The Purpose Of This Recipe Article

If you haven't made Pork Chops via the Shake and Bake method with your kids before, I would suggest that you give it a try. This recipe is great for sparking some kitchen passion into the minds and hearts of young ones.

What's more is that this dinner is so popular, that it's almost too easy to sneak in a side of greens or vegetables.

  • We started our adventure by making a grocery list together. I asked my daughter to pick one thing she would like to have for dinner this week that we normally don't make. She picked Pork Chops with Applesauce.
  • Then we took a trip to the supermarket together to pick out all of the things we would need. (Sometimes just getting her to go to the grocery store with me is a challenge.)

I cherish every moment of bonding time with my daughter and I didn't want this time with her to end as soon as we left the grocery store. While in the check out line, I thought it would be fun to turn this little meal into a sweet article on Cooking With Your Kids. Just for fun.

I expressed to her that I thought this meal was a great idea to post on line and that I could really use her help as my kitchen photographer in order to get it done. Right away, she was interested in the photography job.

I absolutely love the way our meal turned out, and my daughter was so proud of herself for participating in the making of her favorite dish which turned out gorgeous as you can see .

The best part about making food in the kitchen with my child is the quality time that we spend together while we prepare dinner for our family with our own four hands.

Since my daughter is already a teenager, I grasp onto any opportunity to keep us close while I still can. These precious chunks of time together are memories that will last two lifetimes.

One for her and one for me.

The Preparation Is Fun And Easy.

  • Beat two eggs in a shallow mixing bowl with a mixer or a whisk.
  • You will foil your baking sheet or pan (15x10x1inch pan) at this time.
  • Preheat your oven to 425.

(If you do not like to cook with foil, you can also bake your chops on an ungreased baking pan)

  • Measure and mix 1/2 teaspoon of Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning into the egg mix.

I highly recommend keeping a little container of this seasoning handy in your kitchen.

This seasoning goes excellent on almost everything that we cook.

(Especially sprinkled over boiled eggs instead of salt)

Never heard of it? Not to worry. I will give you a link at the bottom of the recipe so that you can check it out.

"Mom, Can I Try That?"

As I mentioned above, I had asked my daughter if she would be my kitchen photographer while I prepared the Pork Chops. I did not start off by asking her to help me make it. I know that for her to want to make it, the idea would have to come from her. Which was not a problem as soon as I dropped the first chop into the bag and shook.

When she saw me do this, she set down the camera and said, "Mom, Can I Try That?"

My hope is that this will inspire you to try this with your children in the kitchen. They will love how fun it is to shake their chops. The most awesome part about this step is that the more you shake the bag, the better.

But Remember, "Shake It, Don't Break It!"

Nothing warms my heart more than knowing that she has a little more kitchen confidence now than she did when she woke up this morning.

425* for 15 - 20 minutes

Your oven must be preheated to 425 and you will want to set your trusty kitchen timer to check your chops in 15 minutes. Sometimes the chops prefer we leave them in for the full 20 minutes to make sure that they are fully cooked but not overdone.

A Side Of Vegetables

My daughter was not too happy with the thought of eating snap peas. You may have noticed, in the photos we took in the beginning of this recipe, we were originally going to make our Pork Chops and Apple Sauce with Fresh Corn On the Cob because what kid doesn't love corn on the cob? Probably because it's fun for them to eat. Same concept with the Pork Chops and Apple Sauce.

I decided to swap corn for peas and I figured that everyone would be so excited to eat Pork Chops with Apple Sauce for dinner that they wouldn't notice the bright green plumpness on the side of their plates.

Within minutes, every morsel of everything was inhaled. Seconds were served.

Mission Accomplished. Today has been a parental success in many ways.

Thank you for allowing me to share my experience with you.

I would absolutely love to hear about your experiences as well.

At the end of this recipe, I will place a Comment Box for you to write and share anything you'd like. I check my web articles quite often and I always make it appoint to respond to every single person.
